The Board of Directors of Ministry with Community has named Sidney Ellis as our new Executive Director!
Sidney, a longtime Kalamazoo resident, comes to the organization with over 25 years of experience in community engagement and nonprofit leadership, including at the Kalamazoo County Land Bank Authority and Douglass Community Association.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to further the mission of Ministry with Community, to empower people to make positive life changes,” said Sidney. “One of my strengths is fostering meaningful connections between people to promote mutual progress. Through my extensive community involvement, volunteer work, and business relationships, I’ve cultivated a diverse and far-reaching network.”
In recent years, as you know, MwC has seen an increase in the need for our services, which the Board of Directors believes Sidney will navigate well.
“Mr. Ellis has a strong track record in building impactful collaborations, addressing systemic barriers, and leading initiatives that drive meaningful change,” said Dr. Bridget Weller, MwC’s Board President. “The Board of Directors is confident that his leadership and vision will help us drive success in supporting our members in the years to come.”
Sidney succeeds outgoing Executive Director, Kelly Henderson. Kelly has held the position for 8 years, serving a total of 17 years with the organization while providing steady, compassionate leadership and centering equity for members, staff, and the community. Kelly will stay on through March to assist with the transition.
